Grants are a great way for Rugby clubs to source additional income and support priority projects. A host of annual and one-off grants are available to sporting clubs each year.
Some tips to help your club prepare for grants success include:
- Have a dedicated grants person at your club
- Prepare a grants plan / priority list each year to identify which grants are suitable for your club e.g. infrastructure upgrades, volunteer support, equipment provision
- Be ready to apply by having key documents required at hand in advance e.g. Club constitution, public liability information, ABN, club strategic plan, key club statistics and playing numbers
- Identify suitable grants and ensure you are both suitable and eligible
- Ensure your club priorities and applications align with the greater community need
- Seek feedback if you are unsuccessful
A list of available grants nationally, and in each state and local government is available on the Clearinghouse for Sport website.
The site also includes grant writing guidelines and support.
