Volunteers are an integral part of rugby clubs, with most clubs being run entirely through volunteer effort. Recruiting new volunteers can feel like a daunting task, so see below for some quick tips on recruiting volunteers:
- Start the conversation at your next committee meeting identifying why volunteering is important, but also why volunteers may choose to help
- Consider the benefits and motivations to potential volunteers that you can promote
- Consider the benefits to the wider club or community that potential volunteers will feel connected to
- Create a recruitment message - be creative, keep it positive, and highlight the benefits to the individual and the club
- Ask those already connected to your club - most potential volunteers will already be a part of your extended club community whether they are a player, past player, family member, sponsor or coach
- Provide volunteers with a realistic view (and position description if possible) of what the role(s) entail
- Make sure new recruits feel valued
