Celebrating Every Try, Every Tackle, Every Woman in Rugby
Rugby Australia Launches Women & Girls in Rugby Week to Drive Record Participation Across the Country

A nationwide celebration of women's and girls' rugby kicks off — backed by a powerful new promotional toolkit to help community clubs, associations, and member unions light up the game across Australia.

Rugby Australia has announced Women & Girls in Rugby Week from a dedicated national celebration designed to honour, promote, and grow the women's and girls' game at every level, from grassroots community clubs through to elite competition. In conjunction with the initiative, Rugby Australia has released a comprehensive Women & Girls Promotional Toolkit, giving clubs and associations across the country everything they need to amplify their local rugby communities and drive registrations.

Women and girls' rugby is growing fast in Australia. From the Wallaroos competing on the world stage to juniors picking up a ball for the very first time, the sport is broader, more inclusive, and more exciting than ever before. Women & Girls in Rugby Week is Rugby Australia's opportunity to put a national spotlight on that growth — and to invite even more women and girls to be part of it.

What is Women & Girls in Rugby Week?

Women & Girls in Rugby Week is Rugby Australia's national initiative to celebrate the contribution of women and girls across every facet of the sport — playing, coaching, refereeing, administering, and volunteering. The week aims to:

  • Increase awareness of women's and girls' rugby participation opportunities across Australia
  • Drive registrations in women's and girls' competitions at community level
  • Celebrate and profile the coaches, match officials, players, and administrators making the game great
  • Inspire the next generation of female rugby players and leaders
  • Support clubs and associations to build inclusive, welcoming environments for women and girls

The initiative aligns directly with Rugby Australia's broader strategy for 2022–2032, which places women and girls at the heart of its ambitions to grow and diversify participation in the sport. With the Women's Rugby World Cup heading to Australian shores in 2029, the timing couldn't be more significant.
