Sponsorships

Sponsorship is critical to the finances and success of any Rugby club. It is often the difference between success and just hanging on.

Some tips to get started include:

  • Begin with approaching existing club members, past players and connected members of the community - people and businesses are more likely to support a club they already have an attachment to
  • Think about your sponsorship package from a business point of view - what is in it for them and how can you offer clubs what they need
  • Offer exclusivity for sponsors in a specific category - e.g. a venue sponsor
  • Write a tailored proposal for each business
  • Decide what you want the sponsorship to achieve - e.g. general club sponsorship, event sponsorship, uniform expenses, development programs or academy for young players
  • Keep your sponsors in the loop with regular comms such as a monthly newsletter
