Be part of the Future of Rugby

With the 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup and 2029 Women's Rugby World Cup on the horizon, there has never been a better time to get involved in rugby. These global events will place a spotlight on the game across Australia - but their success begins at community level, with the volunteers who support and grow the game every week. Here's what you can gain:

Build your community - Connect with passionate people across your local club and the wider rugby family. Friendships forged on the sideline last a lifetime.

Develop real skills - Coaching accreditations, event management, governance, first aid and more. Volunteering builds a portfolio of transferable skills recognised by employers across every industry.

Be part of history - With the 2027 and 2029 Rugby World Cups coming to Australia, there's never been a more exciting time to be involved. Help deliver events that the whole country will remember.

Support your wellbeing - Studies consistently show that volunteering reduces stress, boosts mental wellbeing, and improves life satisfaction. Giving your time gives something back to you too.

Fit around your life - Whether you can give two hours a week or two weekends a year, there's a role that suits your schedule. Volunteer on your terms, at your pace.

National Volunteer Action Plan

Rugby Australia, in collaboration with our member unions, is proud to launch the National Volunteer Action Plan 2026–2029.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of grassroots rugby, driving the community game in clubs across the country. This plan sets out a clear pathway to promote, empower, align and unify volunteering - creating the right environment, training and support for those who give their time to the game.

With major events on the horizon, including the 2027 and 2029 Rugby World Cups, this initiative ensures clubs are equipped with a strong, sustainable volunteer base for the future.

This is the opportunity to build a lasting legacy for Rugby in Australia.
